Very impressive super storm over Brisbane

We had a warning text letting us know that strong damaging winds would be on their way with some rain and thunder. We have the same warning every time there is a storm here. However, that one was very impressive: egg size hail and 70 knots of wind, more than 1000 lighting strikes in 30 min and lots of rain too.

It was quite scary to hear all these frozen balls falling onto our deck. Fortunately there is no damage on Merlin, only one small hook, holding a side screen, broke – that is only a 10 min job to fix tomorrow. Clea went to collect few boxes of hail - which were still frozen this morning.

Our car, or at least its body, doesn’t seem as strong as Merlin. The strong winds made the hail fall nearly horizontally and we now have a dotted/dented car….like a few thousand people in Brisbane.

Many trees fell down, windows were broken, roofs flew away, poweer lines broke down etc. Apparently this was one of the worst storms in the last 30 years and corresponds to a cyclone force 2.  What a wild weather!
