Good spot

Dockside is a well-known place for weddings and, from time to time, these ceremonies are a little overboard (at least for me who prefers simple) having private fireworks on the river. But hey, I don’t complain and we all love this special extra as we are in prime position to view these fireworks (2 in 3 weeks).

Easter week-end on the water

The weather forecast wasn’t looking good: lots of rain and thunderstorms – not great when you are at anchor. So we stayed at the dock on Friday. We went to the Gallery of Modern Art …only to find out that Good Friday was one of the two days in the year when it was closed. We had a little shower or two but no real bad weather. So Saturday morning, even if the forecast wasn’t looking better, we decided to throw the lines.

The wind was, off course, from the wrong direction but Clea enjoyed steering Merlin across the bay.

We anchored in front of our favourite dunes.

As soon as the anchor was down, we jumped in the water (still 26 degrees). It felt so good to be swimming and jumping in the sea again.

Some very impatient kids came to wake us up early on Sunday morning as they wanted to start their eggs hunt.

Most were found (we think there are still one or two hidden somewhere) and quickly eaten for breakfast.

We spent the rest of the morning eliminating these extra calories going up and down the big dunes. In fact, we bought a new boogie board few weeks ago and were eager to try it … on the sand dunes! Wow, this one is really fast! We had loads of fun sliding down these dunes.

The day went with more fun in the water, few games and lots of reading. The sky was still blue and the sun was out.

However, Sunday night was quite bumpy due to the wind being from the wrong direction (again). It wasn’t enough to scare us away so we stayed till Monday afternoon and enjoyed a little more sliding down the sand dunes, swimming, even diving for Greg, Clea and Felix and having fun all together.

Too soon we were back towards the Brisbane river, sails up this time and a roast lamb in the oven. Still no rain and thunderstorms but pink cheeks, sand between our toes and smiles on our face.  We all had such a great week-end ignoring the weather forecast.
